Nitra
As a 9-year-old boy, Rwandan-born Nitra came to Belgium in 1985. The mix of cultures that so defined his childhood has caused Nitra to connect two worlds in his artworks. He brings the love of flora and fauna of his native country into contact with modern architecture in Europe. We see this, among other things, in beautiful, abstract works in which he connects colorful African butterflies with the architectural of the West. Nitra uses special techniques that work the paintings to life: they change under the influence of temperature differences. "An artwork by Nitra draws you in by the power of the colors applied. The work has a hypnotic effect and immediately evokes a feeling of happiness in the viewer. Nitra's artworks are as special as the man himself," said Arnoud Bennink.
